The Jessica Jones and Punisher series of Netflix have been canceled. Deadline reports that season 3 of Jessica Jones will still air on the streaming service, but that will mark the end of its series. The Punisher, meanwhile, will not come back, having released season 2 on Netflix in January 2019.
This apparently ends the relationship between Marvel and Netflix regarding the creation of new shows. The streaming service has already called Time for its shows on Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, which means The Defenders is gone. Netflix said that broadcasts will stay on Netflix for subscribers to watch.
"The Marvel Punisher will not be coming back for a third season on Netflix," reads a statement to Deadline. "The showrunner Steve Lightfoot, his fantastic team and his outstanding cast, including star Jon Bernthal, have presented a hugely popular and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to present their work on Netflix for years to come.
