The daughter of rock star Bruce and singer-songwriter Patti Scialfa, Springsteen was selected to a four-rider team alongside Kent Farrington, Laura Kraut and McLain Ward.

Ward is a three-time Olympic medalist having won gold medals in Beijing and Athens and silver in Rio. He will make his fifth Olympic appearance at the Tokyo Games, which begin on July 23.

Kraut also won gold in Beijing, while Farrington is hoping to add to his Rio silver.

Springsteen, ranked 27th in the world, will ride the 12 year old Belgian Warmblood stallion Don Juan van de Donkhoeve in Tokyo.

Springsteen rides Don Juan van de Donkhoeve in the FEI Show Jumping World Cup competition in Mechelen, Belgium in 2019.
“I think the chemistry between you and your horse can vary from round to round,” Springsteen, 29, told CNN in 2019.

“Some horses you get up right away and click right away, and others it can take a little longer and be a little difficult.

“But I think you have to be patient and that it has to be a mutual exchange between the horses.”

She added: “I think the key to getting the most out of your horse is just to manage his schedule, to make a good schedule ahead of time. You can choose shows that you think they will be at. their maximum. “

The show jumping team qualifier and final of the Tokyo Olympics take place on August 6 and 7.
