Jets’ Jarrad Davis out for two months with injury

The wrong type of hits keep coming in for the Jets’ defense.

Linebacker Jarrad Davis will be out for two months after leaving Saturday’s game at Green Bay with an ankle injury, head coach Robert Saleh said on Monday.

Saleh said it wasn’t quite a sprained ankle, but that he would be treated as one.

Davis, who will be out until the week off of Week 6 or so, had limped on the sidelines before being transported to the locker room in the second quarter.

Two of the Jets’ offseason defensive splashes will now be sidelined for at least a good part of the season. Last week, defensive end Carl Lawson was ruled out for the year after tearing his Achilles tendon.

“Jarrad has only been a professional since he came here, same with Carl,” Saleh said. “I feel sick for them because of the amount of investment these young men have made in this game, to have it all taken in one game.

“… We will find out. Someone will intervene and we will continue to move forward.

Saleh said Jamien Sherwood, a fifth-round pick from Auburn, will replace Davis.
