The New York Jets have released running back Isaiah Crowell, the team said Thursday.
The addition of free agent The Veon Bell, who agreed to sign a 52-year contract totaling $ 52.5 million on Tuesday night, made Crowell expendable. The Jets intended to release Crowell even if they did not sign Bell. He leaves Bell, Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon in the front row of their defenders. Crowell, who turned 26 in January, did everything with the Jets. After four seasons with the Cleveland Browns, he signed a $ 12 million contract over three years ($ 4 million guaranteed at signing) and became the basic running back last season.

In five seasons, Crowell totaled 3,803 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns.
