Jets head coach Adam Gase added the title of interim general manager when Mike Maccagnan was sacked last week. The team has hired its first player since this change.

This is a player that Gase has already trained in Miami. The Jets announced that they had recruited Matt Darr in their list of 90 players.

Darr was the Dolphins bettor in 2016, Gase's first season as head coach in Miami. He took office by defeating Brandon Fields in a competition in 2015 and was absent from the league after being suspended in September 2017. He returned to the game five times for the Bills last year.

Darr averages 45.4 yards per kick over his entire career. He joins Lachlan Edwards as current punting options for the Jets.
