In a new work of art, Jim Carrey congratulated Jon Stewart for defending the 9/11 first responders and criticized Rudy Giuliani, New York's mayor during the terrorist attacks.
"Our thanks to Jon Stewart for supporting the 9/11 heroes who gave their all to do their duty while Congress, as usual, ran to hide cockroaches like cockroaches when you turn on the lights. And speaking of insects, where is America's Mayor? Should not Rudy fight for these people? "Said the actor turned artist.
Carrey's painting portrays Stewart – who animated "The Daily Show" during 9/11 – at the head of two FDNY firefighters. The photo evokes reports from the World Trade Center that firefighters would be directing civilians out of the twin towers. The painting shows Stewart lighting a switch while the cockroaches leave at full speed.
The former late-night talk was tabled in Congress on Wednesday, urging lawmakers to renew the September 11th compensation fund, which was due to expire next year.

"Your indifference has cost these men and women their most valuable asset: the time!" Said Stewart, greeting the committee hearing, which remained half empty. "What an incredible metaphor this room represents for the entire process that brought health care and benefits to the first responders of September 11th. Behind me, a room filled with first responders from 9/11 and in front of me, a Congress almost empty. Sick and dying, they went here to talk. For no one. "
On Wednesday – a day after Stewart's testimony – the House Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill to allow additional funding for the Victims Compensation Fund from September 11 to 2090. The proposed law will be subject to a full vote in the House next month.
Before the hearing, members of the FNDY presented the fire bunker Ray Pfiefer, a firefighter who died as a result of September 11th cancer. Stewart had been friends with Pfiefer during the previous expiry of the 9/11 legislation. Stewart praised Pfiefer after his passing in 2017.
"I do not deserve that, but I will cherish it as I cherish Ray and our friendship," responded Stewart with emotion after receiving the coat.
Giuliani – nicknamed "the mayor of America" by Oprah Winfrey at a commemorative ceremony of September 11, two weeks after the attacks – did not tweet nothing about 9/11 speakers this week, concentrating its attacks on the Democratic party. (Giuliani is the lawyer for President Trump.)
Trump and his cabinet are often in the works of Jim Carrey. The actor's previous work examined the president himself, Attorney General William Barr, and former special advocate Robert Mueller. The artist also painted the candidate for democratic elections Joe Biden, which seems to question the viability of the former vice president's candidacy.
