Jimmy Carter gets his job at Emory University at age 94

Former President Jimmy Carter has achieved one of his long-term goals at the age of 94.

Over the years, Carter joked about not having a permanent position, despite teaching teachers in all Emory University schools and writing several books and articles. The Atlanta-based university announced Monday that after 37 years of teaching, the 39th president was becoming a permanent faculty member.

"Having President Carter as part of the Emory experience has a profound impact on our students," said Dwight McBride, Provost and Executive Vice President Academic Affairs. "As a servant leader, he demonstrates inclusivity and empathy in the classroom and beyond, and encourages our teachers and students to approach their research, teachings and studies with tireless sense. .

Carter, who was born in Georgia and still lives there with his wife Rosalynn, is not only the first former president to be appointed to Emory, but also the first Nobel laureate.

"When I left the White House, I decided not to be part of a corporate board of directors nor to take part in any commercial activities. I had long had the ambition to teach, "Carter said in a statement.He now holds in four schools: Emory College of Arts and Sciences, Oxford College, Candler School of Theology and Rollins School of Public Health.
