Jimmy Fallon welcomes viral TikTok dancers after backlash

[ad_1]

It was a good answer.

Last week Jimmy Fallon had TikToker Addison Rae on Tonight’s show to promote his new music. One of the segments they did together was Addison teaching her viral TikTok dances, and almost immediately the internet DIDN’T HIM.

The number one criticism was that Jimmy highlighted Addison Rae right now without highlighting the original creators:

@jimmyfallon @whoisaddison This would have been the perfect opportunity for you to lead by example and give black designers the credit they deserve. This opportunity could have been huge for them. But no, you chose to flaunt a white girl who already has a fucking career doing this shit. It sucks, do better

Like, I get it! Addison Rae is a big name and she was on a publicity tour for her single – but if that’s what you wanted to do, there was a way you could have included the creators as well, so it didn’t seem like those moves were coming. from the mind of Addison Rae.

^^ What we ALL thought.

I’ll be the first to say, I don’t like giving credit to men, but I also give credit where credit is due. Instead of just apologizing and ~ promising to do better ~, Jimmy Fallon called on the creators of these viral dances and pointed them out:

Finally, Keara Wilson, who created the dance “Savage”:

I absolutely loved this video because A) I got to know more about the creators, and B) they were given a huge platform to shine / strut!

Everyone should take notes on how to properly react to such a situation.
