SANTA CLARA – In the past three-and-a-half months, quarterback 49ers Jimmy Garoppolo and running back Jerick McKinnon have been connected through rehabilitative missions.
McKinnon had a torn LCA a week before the team's start of the season. Garoppolo had his ACL torn at the end of the season during the third week in Kansas City. Difficult re-education was difficult, but the fact that they suffered together was a good thing for both of them.
"At first you are so depressed after the operation and everything else," Garoppolo said Wednesday. "Jet was about three weeks ahead of me, so I always had some advice for me," I did that "or" Try to do that ".
"It's encouraging to be with someone, especially Jet. The guy is so positive every day. How can you not be in a good mood with him? "
The 49ers' official program began on Monday, and Garoppolo and McKinnon – the two men expected to be the team's biggest offensive players last season – are joined by the rest of their teammates.
Garoppolo and McKinnon have clearly built chemistry for all their time together in the field, as well as in the weight room and training room.
"I see how hard he works and vice versa," McKinnon said. "It's a lot of time together talking about things, games, picking your brain, picking my own. See you on the same page for the coming season. "
Garoppolo, who will be wearing a left knee corset this season, will likely participate in 7-in-7 exercises at the team's scheduled activities, which will begin in a month. McKinnon and Garoppolo should be released for a full job at the opening of the training camp at the end of July.
"I do not have a schedule, but when it's time, I'll be ready," McKinnon said.
The 49ers will open the season on Sept. 8 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, said a source at NBC Sports Bay Area, and both players are waiting to be on the field that day. But McKinnon said that he was trying not to go too far in front of himself.
"I have not played for so long, you want to go so bad in this first game just to return to the field," he said. "Every day is a work in progress, and you must earn today, especially in the rehabilitation process like this."
Garoppolo insisted on the importance of taking modest steps and being patient when returning from such a serious injury.

"It's great to start again," Garoppolo said. "That's what I do. This is encouraging. Every day becomes easier and easier, able to make this throw better than I was a week ago.
"These are small victories like that. Throughout this process, everything is about small wins. "
