JJ Watt is asking fans to give him just a second to let him think as he prepares for his first offseason as a free agent.
Watt and the Houston Texans agreed to separate last week. Watt spent 10 seasons with Houston, won three Defensive Player of the Year awards and was five times All-Pro. Now he’s deciding where he’ll play next, but avid fans hoping he’ll pick their team have forced Watt to request a break.
“I scroll through the dashboard for about an hour before picking a restaurant man…” he wrote.

“You’re going to have to give me a second to pick a new team and a new city.”
Watt will be 32 at the start of the 2021 season. Last year, he played all 16 games for the second time in the past five seasons. He recorded five sacks, 52 tackles and one interception.

Frustrations seemed to boil over during the season. He spoke about the team’s performance in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at the end of the 2020 season. He also apologized to Deshaun Watson for losing another year of his prime – a moment filmed this season.
He was also upset by the team’s decision to fire longtime public relations manager Amy Palcic and publicly rejected any Texans’ efforts to rebuild.
Watt’s departure is the latest reshuffle in Houston. DeShaun Watson has reportedly requested an exchange, despite the organization’s reluctance to leave him.

According to NFL Network, Houston saved $ 17.5 million in 2021 in cash and salary cap by releasing Watt.
