President-elect Joe Biden has defended his son Hunter Biden amid an ongoing tax investigation into young Biden.

In an interview with Stephen Colbert due to air Thursday night, the president-elect sat alongside Dr Jill Biden and expressed “confidence” in his son.

“I think it’s kind of a foul play, but look, that’s what it is and he’s a grown man, he’s the smartest man I know – I mean by a pure intellectual ability – and as long as it’s good, we’re good, ”Joe Biden said.

Biden’s transition team clarified that the president-elect was not referring to the investigation as a “foul play,” but rather to Republicans who used Hunter Biden’s business connections to personally prosecute him for months.

When Colbert asked how he would handle attacks from Republicans, Biden said he would be willing to work with critics because it’s what’s best for the country.

HUNTER BIDEN FOREIGN TRANSACTIONS REPEATED AS POTENTIAL CRIMINAL ACTIVITY, SENATE PROBE FOUND

The Delaware U.S. Attorney is investigating Hunter Biden’s taxes – an investigation that has been ongoing since 2018 but only recently became public.

Hunter Biden has a complex web of international business relationships.

His involvement in Ukrainian energy company Burisma in 2014 has come under intense scrutiny and has been a repeated target for President Trump during his campaign for the 2020 presidency.

The youngest Biden was given $ 50,000 a month to serve on Burisma’s board of directors, which raised concerns about perceptions of a conflict of interest given that his father was involved in US policy towards the Ukraine.

Hunter Biden also has ties to Chinese and Russian nationals who have raised eyebrows.

Senator Joe Manchin, DW.Va., told Fox News Thursday that he believes Joe Biden will not interfere with the Hunter Biden investigation when he assumes the White House in January, because he “believes in Right wing state”.
