The return video wrapped up Tuesday’s event, in which Apple unveiled its M1 chip and designs for the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini.
Hodgman returns as the hapless “PC guy” to troll Mac updates including longer battery life and get rid of those noisy computer fans. Her character appears in a suit and tie against the same crisp white backdrop from the previous campaign.
“I am a PC. Is there time for questions?” Hodgman asks in the video. “Because I have one. Why are you making all the advancements? What’s the point?
“Oh, you’re so calm now. Listen, I’m a machine. I’m proud of it,” he said, imitating the loud, buzzing sounds of a computer fan.
“Longer battery life – plug it in! Where are you going? Just plug it in,” he continues.
The previous “Get a Mac” ad campaign debuted in 2006, with Hodgman humanizing the PC and actor Justin Long playing the Mac. Both scoffed at their various functionality – the nerdy PC didn’t inevitably measure up to the cool, artistic Mac.
