John Krasinski and Pete Davidson kicked off a new year of “Saturday Night Live” with an unexpected kiss.
On Saturday, Krasinski made his debut on “SNL” hosting the first episode of 2021. During the opening monologue, the 41-year-old actor was inundated with questions about his appearance on “The Office” on NBC, where he played Jim Halpert from 2005 to 2013.
“My question is, you’re Jim from ‘The Office,'” SNL star Alex Moffat said as part of the skit.
“No, I’m actually John, but yes, hello,” Krasinski replied.
When Moffat asked where Pam Beasley – Halpet’s wife on the sitcom – was – Krasinski said, “Pam is a fictional character, and that’s where she is.”
Kenan Thompson, meanwhile, told Krasinski to “kiss Pam”.
“Guys, here’s the deal, Pam isn’t real. She’s played by Jenna Fischer, we’re friends and we got married to other people, ”Krasinski said, referring to his wife Emily Blunt and Fischer’s husband Lee Kirk.
As the Pam-centric comments continued, “SNL” star Pete Davidson joined Krasinski on stage.
“I think what’s going on is everyone’s been stuck inside for a year watching ‘The Office’ non-stop, so Jim and Pam are really real to them,” Davidson said.
When Thompson asked if Davidson was Pam, Davidson said he and Krasinski should respect the public’s wishes.
“Jim, you have to kiss Pam,” Davidson, 27, said before pressing lips with Krasinski.
“It felt really good,” Krasinski said. “Wow, thank you Pam.”
Machine Gun Kelly also appeared on Saturday’s episode as a musical guest.
