John Legend closed the second evening of the Democratic National Convention, Tuesday, August 18, with a moving performance of his recent ballad “Never Break”.
Sitting solo on a Yamaha grand piano on an initially empty stage, Legend delivered a passionate rendition of the Greatest love hymn of perseverance, with choristers gradually accompanying behind him to offer their support.
The performance capped a Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention which saw Joe Biden officially named the Democratic candidate for the upcoming 2020 presidential election. The evening also included speeches by former President Bill Clinton and 2004 Democratic candidate John Kerry , as well as a feature report on Biden’s wife Jill, who also gave a touching speech on behalf of her husband.
The Democratic National Convention continues Wednesday evening (August 19), with the expected performances of Billie Eilish and Jennifer Hudson.
