John Mayer launches a foundation focused on improving the health of veterans through scientific research.
The Grammy-winning singer announced Friday the Heart and Armor Foundation, which plans to focus on veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and meeting the emerging needs of veteran women.
Although he publicly announced the foundation Friday, Mayer has been working on the organization since 2012 alongside veterans, scientists and clinicians.
"We publish articles such as published research reports and have collected enough money to actually set up pilot programs. We have very good data and … we want it to work first, so we can answer many questions before raising awareness, "Mayer said in an interview with The Associated Press.
