The host of HBO's "Last Week Tonight," John Oliver, criticized Meghan McCain on Sunday for his recent clash with Seth Meyers, who brought the co-host husband of "The View" to defend himself.

Oliver played an excerpt from the Icelandic rock band Hatari, pointing out that one of the bizarre group members is the son of the country's ambassador to the UK.

"You may think that it's the most embarrassing child of a prominent political figure you've ever seen, but let me remind you of Meghan McCain's ongoing existence." Oliver said. "I bet her husband is going to be so mad at me now."

Earlier this month, McCain's husband, Ben Domenech, publisher of the Federalist, launched a series of insults against Meyers after the host of the evening had a difficult exchange with his wife.

It all began when Meyers, who invited Domenech's wife to his show, challenged McCain for his repeated criticism of representative Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. At one point, McCain asked Meyers when he was the "publicist" of Omar.

Oliver laughed at the situation saying that he could not wait to see what Domenech had to say about the segment.

"What on earth is he going to tweet and delete? I can not wait to find out, "Oliver said.

McCain has recently been regularly targeted by liberal comedians and has also made fun of the latest episode of "Saturday Night Live".

Meyers' attack by Domenech, now suppressed, mentions "SNL creator, Lorne Michaels.

"I see that @sethmeyers, that piece of talent without talent – who only has his job because he regularly gargles himself against the nonsense of Lorne Michaels, has attacked my wife tonight with his anti-Semitic idiots -, "Domenech tweeted, according to The Daily Beast.

Michaels created "Saturday Night Live" where Meyers played for many years.

In another tweet, Domenech called Meyers "awful person, known in the industry for its terrible". "He's a monumental monster who is not funny, he deserves the taunts he gets from all the people who make fun of him," he added.

He also said that the host had proved that "white men are advancing despite their obvious lack of talent". "That's @sethmeyers, who would beg a third of viewers on @TheView," he said, referring to his wife's show.

"But the best thing to do, is how many people around @smehmeyers are talking about what a person is there." "Because, oh, it's sad So terrible, but it deserves all that, "added Domenech in a different tweet.

Domenech finally apologized and suppressed his tweets – which Oliver seems to find hysterical.
