One of John Singleton's latest projects was the FX drama series Snowfall, that he co-created, directed and produced by the executive.
The series on the 1980s crack epidemic in Los Angeles is in production for the third season. The tragedy remained in production while Singleton was hospitalized after his April 17 stroke. Filming also continued today, when it was learned that Singleton had been removed from the survival system and died a few hours later.
"Everyone is sad but everyone is moving forward because that was what John wanted," Snowfall executive producer Trevor Engelson said.
The series rightly films a very dark and dramatic scene today.
"It was as if the actors were hearing what John would have said:" Use that real emotion in your performance, "Engelson said.

Singleton was a practical executive producer. "He was in the writers room, he was on the set, he put everything in place," Engelson said.
This included directing each Snowfall final season. He did it in Season 1 and Season 2 and had also planned to conduct Season 3 more closely until a long-standing passion project about him, a film from Emmett Till with Taraji P. Henson and produced by Steven Spielberg together.
Singleton, who was to direct the film, suggested Sunu Gonera, who had directed several episodes of Snowfall, assume leadership duties for the finals. The film eventually had to be pushed to work more on the budget. Instead of demanding his last role as director, Singleton wanted Gonera to be vaccinated.
Snowfall Season 3 stays on track for a first summer.
Engelsom, who was Singleton's manager, paid tribute to the filmmaker on social media earlier in the day. He is followed by Snowfall adorable star of Damson Idris.
The world has lost a true legend today. My client and friend John Singleton has died as a result of a stroke. I have been a Singleton fan since I was in high school. I even had a poster on poetic justice on my wall. Years ago, John was fortunate to become his director. John became a customer, a mentor and a friend in a few days. John had a strong will and determination: he was not offended, for better or for worse, and he did it with a smile! He was a great father and son, a legendary filmmaker and pioneer, a mentor for hundreds of people, and I will always be grateful to call a real influence on my life. This man is a true source of inspiration, showing by the example that the impossible can be accomplished at your leisure. May we all have the chance to live as much as man in 51 years … Legend, but we will ensure that his legacy lives on forever. A lot of love and respect!
