Actor Johnny Depp has filed a $ 50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, accusing him of filing a domestic violence complaint in order to make advance his career.
In the lawsuit filed Friday in Virginia, Depp quotes an article written by Heard for the Washington Post on domestic violence.
The lawsuit also contains Depp's allegation that Heard started an affair with Tesla founder Elon Musk just a month after Depp and Heard's wedding in 2015.
Heard's lawyer, Eric M. George, responded to the complaint in a statement to People magazine.

Depp's lawyer, Adam Waldman, then responded to George's statement.

Depp's complaint states that although Heard did not use Depp's name in Post's article, it was clear that she was referring to him. The prosecution classifies her allegations of domestic violence as "categorical and patently false".
"They were part of a hoax developed to generate positive publicity for Mrs. Heard and advance her career," says the lawsuit, claiming that "it is she who is the author".
The lawsuit said Depp, 55, had suffered financial losses as a result of the charges, including the abandonment of his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.
In her article, published in the Post in December, 32-year-old Heard also claims to have lost an acting role and a contract with a major fashion brand because she has made public her allegations of being in business. ;abuse.
"I stood up against sexual violence – and I faced the anger of our culture," wrote the 32-year-old actress, adding that she felt as if she was "tried by the court of public opinion".
Heard publicists and lawyers have not responded to phone calls or emails from the Associated Press wishing to obtain comment on Saturday.
In a statement to People magazine, his lawyer Eric M. George described the lawsuit as "frivolous" and "simply the last of Johnny Depp's repeated efforts to silence Amber Heard."

Heard the first accused Depp of domestic violence in May 2016, the year after their marriage.
