JoJo Siwa – she with massive sparkling knots, colorful clothes, and “Dance Moms” origins – apparently went gay, sharing the news on Twitter on Friday using a t-shirt with a message.

“My cousin got me a new shirt,” the 17-year-old tweeted, sharing an image of the black tee emblazoned with “BEST. GAY. COUSIN. ALREADY. ”A rainbow emoji was also prominently featured in her Twitter bio.

Followers of the upbeat YouTube star and Nickelodeon celebrated the announcement as Siwa stepped out, welcoming her into the LGBTQ community with open arms.

Longtime friend Colleen Ballinger of ‘Miranda Sings’ fame praised Siwa on Twitter, writing “He’s the happiest I’ve ever seen you. You are absolutely radiant and I am so proud of the woman you are becoming! I love you!

Siwa, who has also posted songs such as “Boomerang” and “DREAM,” sparked a separate social media wave on Thursday with a TikTok video in which, bathed in rainbow lights, she sang verses from Lady Gaga’s hymn “Born This Way. “

The phrases Siwa chose to recite were particularly interesting: “No matter what life is gay, straight or bi / lesbian, transgender / I’m on the right track, baby / I was born to survive,” which has led some to its 31.3 million subscribers believe it was its release.

“WE LOVE THIS FOR YOU,” influencer Brenna D’Amico wrote in the comments to the TikTok video.

“I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU,” wrote beauty influencer James Charles.

Previously, Siwa, who built her empire with a business savvy, lit the internet by visiting the TikTok Pride House LA collective and collaborated with queer TikTokers.

Siwa has deep ties to the community. In 2018, she was asked about her “gay icon status” by drag queens Izzy Uncut and Poppy at an event in New York City. According to Out, Siwa said that she feels comfortable around everyone and wants everyone to feel comfortable around her, and that she loves and supports people for who they are, without any exclusion.

Representatives for Siwa did not immediately respond to the Times’ request for further comment.

Times editor Christie D’Zurilla contributed to this report.
