Rumors say Spider-Man could be out of place Marvel film universe. But Jon Favreau, one of the architects of the MCU, is optimistic. An agreement could be reached.

Spider fans are upset by news stories Disney's been scrambled with Sony, which owns the movie rights of Marvel's cartoon character. Spider-Man is now an integral part of the MCU, but its future may be uncertain if both film studios can not fix things.

"As a fan, [I’m] hopefully something will come to fruition, "Favreau told Entertainment Tonight at Disney Event D23 Friday.

Favreau directed the first MCU movie, Iron Man, in 2008, and also starred in the Spider-Man, Homecoming and MCU films this summer. Far from home. Far From Home has exceeded one billion dollars and set up phase 4 of the MCU, Spider-Man is therefore the key to the development of Marvel films. Meanwhile, Favreau's character is now a bit of a mentor for Tom Holland's Peter Parker, so he will want to continue this story.

Favreau is also the spearhead of Disney's new Star Wars series The mandalorian, one of the many new shows planned for the streaming service Disney Plus. A trailer is eagerly awaited at D23, where new images of Star Wars Episode IX: The rise of Skywalker can appear too.
