Jon Jones? Dana White says Francis Ngannou vs. Derrick Lewis 2 is ‘the fight ahead’

Dana White wondered if Jon Jones wanted to fight Francis Ngannou, saying other heavyweights such as Derrick Lewis would happily fight against the new champion.

The heavyweight title changed hands at UFC 260 on Saturday night, as Ngannou beat Stipe Miocic by knockout in the second round. With former light heavyweight champion Jones on the verge of transitioning to heavyweight, all signs were pointing to Ngannou against Jones next.

White was not impressed with Jones’ wish to negotiate a better salary after the fight and said the promotion was ready to take a different path for Ngannou.

“Derrick Lewis is the fight to go, but if Jon Jones really wants this fight and listen, it’s one thing to go out and tweet and say you want it, and I’m gaining weight and this and that – want- will you fight him? “White told the UFC 260 post-fight presser (h / t MMA Fighting).” I promise you we can call Derrick Lewis or any of those other heavyweights and they want the fight.

“If Jon Jones really wants the fight, Jon Jones knows he can get the fight. All he has to do is call and do it. It’s easy to say you want the fight, but if you really want the fight, Francis Ngannou is the heavyweight world champion right now. All he has to do is pick up the phone and call [UFC EVP and Chief Business Officer] hunter [Campbell] and we can make the deal. “

White went on to say that if he was Jones he would start moving up to middleweight. Jones understood this and responded to the UFC president.

“I like it,” White replied to Jones’ tweet. “It sounds serious then, Jon. Call Hunter now. We can do this fight tonight. Call Hunter now. “
