“Sometimes you get to a point in the deal where both parties are just stuck and trying to figure this out,” Beane said. “And again, I credit Josh. I think Josh was keeping in touch with his reps … So last night around 10pm, you never know when it’s going to happen. We got the phone call and worked on it all night and we did.
The call went well Thursday morning and Allen got a call just before 4 a.m.
“I was just kept in the loop on both sides,” Allen told the media. “Around 3:45 am (in the morning), I got the call. I woke up and they said the deal was pretty much done and we were good to go. As you can imagine, it was pretty hard to sleep after that.

“I wasn’t really worried about these guys,” Beane said. “I mean there are different structures. I even knew last year that Josh and I had an off-the-cuff conversation about making a deal and wanting to make sure he could make a deal that would take care of him and his family, but we could. always win here. So I took all of that into consideration when we structured this thing. I really didn’t care about other transactions whether or not they took place. It was about getting the right deal for Josh and the right deal for the Buffalo Bills. And I believe that is what happened.
Allen is happy to structure the deal to keep Bills competitive

“I think the way we structured the deal was obviously a chance for both sides to get a fair deal and feel like they won,” Allen said. “To be here for eight more years and allow us to move some things around to keep some parts here, I’m not selfish about how the money is spent, where it needs to be or how much it is. I want to win, all it takes to win is what I’m willing to do. At the end of the day, it’s still a lot of money – as someone mentioned earlier, it’s generational wealth and something to be very proud of. The ultimate goal for now is to win, and it won’t matter if we don’t win.
Why the Bills were comfortable giving Allen a recording deal
Bills head coach Sean McDermott hinted that Allen’s contract is a leap of faith for both sides, but explained why the team is confident in the long-term quarterback extension. .
