While some NFL media and insiders have done everything in their power to eliminate Josh Rosen in recent days, Rosen has apparently remained above the fray.

Arizona recruited Rosen last year with a # 10 pick. After four games as a starter, and after seven games, the Cardinals fired off offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and promoted Byron Leftwich, who had not played a season as a quarterback coach before landing the position.

Rosen, however, wanted to believe it was a matter of standard rumor until his agent, Ryan Williams, called him shortly before the start of the first round of the repechage Thursday night to say that the cardinals were trying to exchange it, and called Kingsbury with a message "it's not you-it's me".
"My heart really did not believe it would happen until a few minutes before that happened," Rosen told Klemko. "Common sense then made its way, but my heart did not want to believe it."

"It's really daring for someone who just took a QB"
Williams claimed that Arizona and general manager Steve Keim spoiled the situation – he received a text from Keim after The Cardinals drafted Murray and the San Francisco 49ers said Nick Bosa, in second place, gave him permission to contact the teams for Rosen's trade.
Williams was naturally angry. The entire NFL world believed the Cardinals were going to use Murray, so why did Keim wait so long to start trading negotiations? Once Arizona confirmed it and drafted Murray, the return to a Rosen business dropped.
Klemko wrote that a team executive, along with Washington, was on the phone with Keim, who was asking for a first-round pick. The executive laughed.
"It's really daring for someone who just took a QB," he told Keim.
If an exchange was not possible, the Cardinals would keep Rosen, citing a statistic that in the past three years, an average of 15 quarterbacks played the 16 games in one season.
When Williams called Rosen to tell him that the Cardinals could keep him, he did not answer, he was resigned to giving up his post.
"If that's their position, then I'm going to beat him and Kyler can be the substitute," Rosen said.
But Williams told the truth to Rosen: it's not really what Arizona wanted.
And Rosen also knew the truth.
"I would have absolutely competed if they had retained me, but I would have been a little disgusted because I knew I would not be shaken enough," Rosen said. "One GM will not hire a quarterback and hire another next year, higher, and then play first. This is to admit that you have made two mistakes. It just would not happen. One of the biggest problems that many NFL guys seem to have with Rosen is that football is not the end in itself, but all for him. He loves sports, but money will not change his life and that of his family, as he does for many, and he is able to keep things in perspective.
On the phone with Williams on Thursday night, once it became clear he would not be traded until Friday, Rosen took him seriously.
"I'm fine," he said to his agent. "It's not like I'm a child soldier in Darfur. I have had it pretty well. I think it's time for legitimate adversities to be delivered to me. "
Rosen told Klemko: "I'm trying to put everything in perspective. If I'm disgusted, I get exchanged by the Arizona Cardinals, I try to believe that I live in a beautiful condo in the middle of Scottsdale. I'm part of a team, I have food on my table, a good family.
