Joss whedon was about to make his TV return with Nevers, a Victorian series of “superheroes” which sounded very above Buffy the Vampire Slayer Creator’s Alley: A supernatural action series, set in a rich fantasy world, featuring a set of butt-fucking women. But Whedon left the project late last year, with the hiring of HBO. Philippa goslett to replace him as showrunner and executive producer. As a result, the first season, originally scheduled for 10 episodes, has been reduced to a six-episode series. But those six episodes will be streaming on HBO soon, as revealed in the series’ first trailer. Watch Nevers teaser below.

Set in a world where a population of people “touched” by powerful abilities are persecuted, Nevers seems to be one of those rare new original shows, although it carries a lot of pop culture inspiration – the HBO series looks like X Men meets Buffy meets League of extraordinary gentlemen.
With an ensemble cast that includes Olivia williams, James norton, Tom riley, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson, and Nick frost, Nevers was envisioned by Whedon, who was to present and produce the series before suddenly quitting the project in November. There have been rumors that his exit was linked to Ray Fisher’s claims about the Justice League defined, but none of this is confirmed. In a statement after he left, Whedon attributed this to fatigue, saying, “I am really exhausted and taking my martial energy back to my own life, which is also on the verge of an exciting change.
But despite the conflict behind the scenes for Nevers, it looks promising! The world looks rich, the women look awesome, and the story seems ripe for fleshing out beyond Whedon’s intriguing premise.
Nevers is also produced by Bernadette Caulfield, Ilene S. Landress, Doug Petrie, Jane Espenson and Philippa Goslett. Amy manson, Pip torrens, Denis O’Hare, Zackary Momoh, Elizabeth berrington, Kiran Sawar, Anna devlin, Viola Prettejohn, and Ella Smith complete the cast.
