EXCLUSIVE: JP Richards has been appointed Head of Film Marketing Strategy at Apple TV +. He will report to video marketing director Chris Van Amburg. Richards will begin work next month, when his release from Warner Bros. becomes official. Last November, he stepped down as co-president of global marketing at Warner Bros., one of several well-known marketing executives who left the restructuring of WarnerMedia. Marketing Director Blair Rich and Executive Vice President of Marketing Animation and Family Movies Jim Gallagher have also left. Josh Goldstine, who was looking on the list of Warner Bros. movies to launch concurrently on HBO Max, was named head of the department earlier this month.

Richards will help lead the growing ambitions of Apple’s original film slates. Richards spent six years with Warner Bros, starting as an EVP of WW Digital Marketing, then raised to an EVP of WW Marketing and Chief Digital Strategist. He was appointed Co-Director in 2019. He came to Warner Bros after 12 years at Universal, and served as Senior Vice President of Digital Marketing upon his departure.
