Judges judge Michigan congressional districts unconstitutional, restore order

WASHINGTON – A panel of three federal judges said Thursday that 34 congressional and Michigan state congressional districts were supporters and unconstitutional. Judges ordered state legislators to redraw the maps in time for the 2020 elections.

The panel wrote that it was joining the "growing chorus of federal courts" which ruled that it is unconstitutional to attract districts to unfairly favor the ruling party. The judges said the cards violate the constitutional rights of Democratic voters.

Michigan is frequently a battleground state in national and national elections, split roughly equally between the two main parties. The Republican-dominated legislature controlled the breakdown after the availability of the 2010 Census demographic data.

This is a breaking news development. Come back for updates.
