Apple gave a direct order to the series for The story of Lisey, a limited eight-hour series written and performed by Stephen King featuring Oscar winner Julianne Moore. The series originated from J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Moore will also be executive producer.
King wrote each episode of the series, based on his best selling novel in 2006.
The story of Lisey is a deeply personal thriller that follows Lisey (Moore) two years after the death of her husband. A series of events makes Lisey begin to face the astonishing realities she has repressed and forgotten.
King and Moore will be executive producers alongside Abrams and Ben Stephenson.
Moore has been nominated for five Oscars, winning for Alice again. We'll see her soon in the biography of Julie Taymor, Gloria Steinem The Glorias: a life on the road.
This is the third Apple project by Abrams and Bad Robot, following direct series orders Small voice, executive product by Sara Bareilles, and My glory was I had such friends, featuring and executive produced by Jennifer Garner.
Moore is replaced by Management 360. King is replaced by Paradigm and Gang Tire.
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to announce the news.
