Julie Bowen finally broke her silence after helping rescue a critically injured woman while hiking in Utah.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the “Modern Family” actress rescued a woman named Minnie John while she was visiting Arches National Park with her family. John started to feel bad during the trek and stayed on the trail as his family continued. Unfortunately, she eventually passed out and banged her head against a rock. Luckily, Bowen and his doctor sister were nearby and could help.

Bowen remained silent on the matter until Tuesday when she became the last celebrity invited to fill the role of “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. In her opening monologue, she discussed the story and almost immediately pointed out her utter lack of usefulness in the situation.

“It was so disgusting,” she joked about John’s injury.

“My sister is a doctor, her name is Annie, she is an infectious disease specialist. Very overqualified and more than capable of applying first aid to a roadside hiker,” Bowen said. “So she just goes right over Meredith Gray and starts applying pressure and doing doctor stuff. And I brought all of my professional expertise to the table shouting things that I had heard in episodes of.” Emergency room “”

Bowen noted that even her three children, who were hiking with her and their aunt, were more helpful than she was. Her 12-year-old twins ran down the trail to find John’s family while her 14-year-old, who she says is an avid knife enthusiast, was more than happy to help cut bandages.

However, when John began to regain consciousness, she quickly recognized the “Modern Family” star, but could not immediately locate her and asked if she was an actress.

“I was so embarrassed that I had been useless that I said ‘yes I’m… I’m Elizabeth Banks!'” Bowen joked. “Let her take the heat. “

Joking aside, Bowen noted that John was doing well after the spooky incident. The hiker previously noted in a Facebook post that she was severely dehydrated in addition to having diabetes and accidentally let her blood sugar drop.

In a nod to her sister, who she says did the heavy lifting to save John’s life, Bowen said she agreed to read a note from Annie on the air that read:
