Jury deliberating again in the trial of the father in the death of 5 children

The jurors again wonder if a father from South Carolina is guilty of murdering his five children.

After 90 minutes of talks on Monday, the Lexington County Jury resumed work in the Timothy Jones Jr. case around 9:00 am Tuesday.

Jurors may find Jones guilty, guilty but mentally ill, not guilty by reason of insanity or simply not guilty.

Any verdict of guilt would imply a second phase of Jones' trial, in which the same jurors decide whether he faces the death penalty.

A verdict of not guilty because of alienation would require Jones to stay in a mental hospital until a judge decides that he has found the reason.

Authorities say the 37-year-old man killed his children aged 1 to 8 in their home in Lexington in 2014.
