Just enjoy their legacy as the greatest of all time

Tom Brady played his 14th Conference Championship game on Sunday, and in two weeks time he will be playing his 10th Super Bowl. Bill Belichick, still stuck on 13 and 9, was watching from home on Sunday and will not be coaching Super Bowl LV. If you are among those who are inclined to side with Brady in the Brady vs. Belichick debate, this is significant supporting evidence.

If you are inclined to common sense, you realize you are not.

The debate, as it stands, seeks to determine which actor was most important in the New England Patriots’ two decades of staggering success when Brady was Belichick’s quarterback. That’s a silly question because the two together were the most successful coach / quarterback tandem of the Super Bowl era, it’s almost certain neither would have been. as success without the other, and there is no point in attempting to downgrade the accomplishments of one or the other.

But it’s a question that will endure long after Brady throws his last pass and Belichick his last challenge flag, so let’s get to it here. Even if that’s just to tell you why this season really hasn’t provided an answer.
