Justin Thomas lost a sponsorship with Ralph Lauren after he was caught using an anti-gay slang during the PGA Tour Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii last weekend.

Sports broadcasters seized the moment the 27-year-old said he was “ft” after missing a putt in the tournament’s third round on January 9.

Thomas apologized the same day, saying his foul language was “no excuse”.

Ralph Lauren said on Friday he was “discouraged” by Thomas’ language and was cut ties with the PGA golfer.

“We are disheartened by Mr. Thomas’ recent language, which is totally incompatible with our values,” the fashion company said in a statement.

“As we make the decision, we hope that Mr. Thomas will do the hard and necessary work to partner with us again – by genuinely examining this incident, learning, growing, and ultimately using his platform to promote inclusion, ”the company continued.

Thomas has worked for Ralph Lauren since 2013 and was reportedly on contract until 2021, ESPN reported.
