The sales of electronic cigarette maker Juul Labs Inc. were halted on two websites in China, just days after the launch of the product.

Tmall, of JD.com Inc., and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., have started selling Juul vaporizers, as well as flavor filling capsules such as mint, Virginia tobacco, mango and cream. , between 9 and 13 September. has been removed from both e-commerce sites.

Juul has lobbied for growth around the world as she faces a thorough regulatory review in the United States. The Trump administration announced last week its intention to remove most of the e-cigarettes from the market.

Asian markets are important for the company to expand its user base, especially China, the largest cigarette market in the world. According to the World Health Organization, there are more than 300 million cigarette smokers in China, where 59% of men smoke.

The state monopoly, China National Tobacco, dominates the market. According to the WHO, it accounted for the majority of the 2.4 billion fuel cigarettes sold last year.
