A Californian teenager whose portrait of vice-president-elect Kamala harris went viral received a call from her enjoying her job on Wednesday.
Tyler Gordon, 14, shared a video of his conversation with the outgoing California Senator on Twitter. “I am overwhelmed by the magnificence of your art,” Harris told the Young Bay Area. “You really have a gift, my God. I was so touched to see it.”
Tyler shared a time-lapse video of himself painting his face with acrylic paint on an easel on Sunday. He said it took about 51 minutes to complete. He showed off the final product with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background and asked his Twitter followers to help Harris see it.
“I painted this pic of you and hope you like it !!! Please Rt and tag her so she can see this,” he tweeted.
His supporters mobilized and eventually caught the attention of Chelsea clinton on Twitter. She tagged Harris and told him to look at her “beautiful portrait”.
Days later, Tyler got the call he was hoping for. Harris thanked him and said every time she returned to her hometown of Oakland, she wanted to meet him.
“It means a lot to me,” she says. “And for you to be my homeboy and do that sort of thing, it really touches me.”
Upon learning that Tyler had received the call, Clinton suggested that the work was following Harris to Washington.

Tyler, who met Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson and other celebrities for her art, told a local TV station that Harris is an inspirational figure to him because she overcomes obstacles to get to where she is.
“She went through tons of barriers and I crossed tons of barriers myself with my stuttering, me being in a wheelchair for two years and me being deaf since I was six years old,” he said. he declares. “I crossed tons of barriers and I feel like she represents that.”
