Kamala Harris shops, promotes small businesses at the holiday market

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris took to an outdoor holiday market in Washington, DC on Saturday – and found herself the perfect sock tote.

With her husband Doug Emhoff by her side, a laughing Harris brought up her discovery: a light blue T-shirt emblazoned with the words “Madam Vice President.”

Washington Major Muriel Bowser tweeted a photo of the moment, as well as his thanks for Harris’s support for “Small Business Saturday.”

Harris and Emhoff spent 25 minutes wandering around the stalls near Gallery Place in the downtown district, the local WTOP news station reported, picking up puzzles, a decorative print of various cheeses – and, ultimately, the tee shirt chosen by Harris.

Then Harris took less than a minute of questions journalists.

She said she and President-elect Joe Biden were preparing for their transition by “focusing on the experts.”

“We have met everyone from union leaders to Fortune 500 business leaders,” she said. She and Biden will receive their first classified intelligence briefings on Monday.

But she barely entertained a second question, whether she and Biden would be ready for a possible rematch with President Trump in 2024.

“Please,” she said, raising a dismissive hand before laughing and walking away.
