Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Mister Doug Emhoff are expected to enter the United States Naval Observatory’s Observatory Number One Circle next week, after a two-month delay for “home repairs,” said Thursday. Harris chief spokesperson Symone Sanders.

“The move was initially delayed to allow for home repairs that are more easily done with the house unoccupied,” Sanders posted on Twitter.

The Vice President and her husband stayed temporarily at Blair House, the President’s guest quarters on Pennsylvania Avenue near the White House. The Vice President’s official residence is located approximately three miles from the White House at the Northwestern Naval Observatory in Washington, DC

Sanders said the repairs “included servicing the HVAC system, replacing linings in the chimneys and refinishing some hardwood floors.”

HVAC is a home’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system.

Fox News observed moving vans outside Blair House on Thursday.

Harris was frustrated with the delay in her ability to enter the Naval Observatory, CNN first reported earlier this week.

Life in the vice-presidential compound – which occupies 12 of the observatory’s 72 acres – will undoubtedly be different for the Second Family, an experience Biden reflected on at a town hall in February.

“I wake up in the morning and I say Jill, where the hell are we?” Biden said jokingly referring to a conversation he had with his wife shortly after taking office.

Biden said living in the nation’s house is like living in a “golden cage, in terms of being able to walk outside and do things.”

“The vice president’s residence was totally different,” Biden told Anderson Cooper. “You can walk out of a porch in the summer and jump into a pool, and – and, you know, go to work.”

“You can cycle and never leave the property and train,” he added, referring to the grounds of the Observatory.
