A Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach is under investigation after being involved in a car crash that left a 5-year-old seriously injured.
Britt Reid, the outside linebacker coach and son of head coach Andy Reid, was in a car accident near the Kansas City Chiefs Stadium Thursday, a report from the Kansas City Police Department in Missouri obtained. by ESPN.
The collision occurred between three vehicles: Reid’s and two others that were parked on the side of the road. A car had run out of gas on the ramp to Interstate 435, so the driver called family members for help.

Reid, who has a history of driving under the influence, admitted he had had a few drinks before driving, with prescribed Adderall, the release said. Reid ended up complaining of stomach problems and is now in the hospital.
Reid’s injuries are not unheard of, but he could be in hospital for days, a source told ESPN. Another source said Reid will not be going to the Superbowl on Sunday with his team.
Police said ESPN charges would not be filed until next week, if he received any. No other participant in the car accident suffered fatal injuries.
“The organization has been made aware of a multiple vehicle accident involving outside linebacker coach Britt Reid,” the chiefs said in a statement. “We are collecting information and will have no further comments at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”
