Kansas City chiefs to sign security deal with Tyrann Mathieu

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Kansas City chiefs will sign a security contract with Tyrann Mathieu, according to reports.

Terez Paylor of Yahoo! Sports first announced that the leaders were about to reach an agreement with Mathieu on Monday night.

Adam Schefter of ESPN then announced that the leaders were planning to sign a $ 42 million contract with the former Houston Texan.

The NFL network also announced the deal Monday night. Journalist Ian Rapoport tweeted that Mathieu was the main target of independent agency bosses.

In his first year with the Texans, Mathieu played 16 games last year, totaling 70 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions. The native of New Orleans has already played five years with the Arizona Cardinals.

During his six-year career, Mathieu has totaled 353 tackles, seven sacks and 13 interceptions.
