Kansas City Chiefs vs Baltimore Ravens: 5 questions with the enemy

Editor’s Note: As we head to the Sunday night soccer game of week 2 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens, we welcome kyle barber of Battle of Baltimore – our sister site SBNation covering the Baltimore Ravens – for Five questions with the enemy.

1) On a scale of 1 to 100, how terrified are you of Patrick Mahomes these days?

I think “terrified” is a silly word for it, but maybe it’s just mean. That said, I don’t think Ravens fans are thrilled to have Mahomes at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday night. He did a great job against the Ravens and that is unlikely to change

2) Despite the wounds of his offensive weapons, do the Ravens have enough to fight fire with fire?

I don’t know if they do. They aren’t necessarily built for a shootout, especially when both running backs JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards suffered late-season injuries. If they hadn’t been away I’d be more confident, as Dobbins looked rather special at camp and Edward’s physique is hard to replicate. I guess Chiefs fans can laugh at me saying ‘running backs are the difference’ but the receiving unit looks a lot better than last season and before. Sammy Watkins had a solid Week 1 and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown played a great game. I think if the Ravens are healthy it’s at least closer, but it’s pretty obvious.

3) Traditionally, the Ravens like to blitz – something Mahomes has been very successful against in the past. Will the Ravens get away from it this week?

I wouldn’t expect the Ravens to give up on lightning defense altogether, but they’ll be more respectful of his abilities against the blitz. That said, the four-man race against the Las Vegas Raiders wasn’t strong enough to put pressure on quarterback Derek Carr, which is frustrating. The Ravens have struggled to build four-way pressures for some time now, which many were used to in the Terrell Suggs days.

4) Who is the one Ravens player we may not know but should fear?

Running back Ty’Son Williams looks good. He played a great game against the Raiders and I’m curious if they’ll use him more against the Chiefs. Other than that, I’m sure Chiefs fans know everyone.

5) How is this one going?

The leaders win. Until the Ravens can prove that they are capable of defeating the Chiefs, I no longer choose them to win. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid went all out against the Ravens and I expect more of the same. Cheat on me three times …
