Kanye West is expanding his fashionable music empire to… a prep school in Southern California to rival neighboring Sierra Canyon high school.

West reportedly opened a prep school in Simi Valley, Calif. (30 minutes outside of Los Angeles) and focused on building a high school prep team to compete with the stacked Sierra Canyon Trailblazers.

West’s Donda Academy will be backed by Adidas and has already landed Jalen Hooks, a 6ft 7in junior from Indiana with offerings from Kansas, Michigan State, Purdue, Illinois and more. .

“It’s just one of those things you can’t pass up,” Hooks told Kyle Neddenriep of the Indianapolis Star. “It was also more of a family decision. We all felt it was a chance to reach my full potential, grow and prepare for college.

Five-star junior Robert Dillingham from North Carolina also joins Hooks. Dillingham is a privileged lean from North Carolina and holds other offerings from Texas, Memphis, Tennessee and more. Other players linked to the new Donda Academy preparation team are Jahki Howard of Georgia and five-star Zion Cruz of New Jersey.

No head coach of the team has yet been appointed.

Kanye West is personally recruiting for the Donda Academy; Staples Center game in the works

West also didn’t hesitate to recruit for his new prep team. Two prominent rookies told Yahoo Sports they were followed by West on Instagram and received direct messages from the rapper asking them to join his prep team.

“It’s crazy that he reached out,” a player told Yahoo Sports. “But he’s building a good team with players I want to play with and it’s in LA at a good market, so that’s something my family and I have to think about.”

There are early rumors that a game between the Sierra Canyon powerhouse and Donda Academy is being staged at Staples Center in February. It could be the chance to see other five-star prospects like LeBron James’ son Bronny and one of the nation’s top seniors Amari Bailey hit the court.

West has previously been spotted in Sierra Canyon games where he and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian West and sister Kendall Jenner have supported Scotty Pippen Jr. and other children of NBA royalty.

For West, it was in music, fashion and now high school basketball that he chose to invest. For elite high school basketball players, they now have plenty of options… including Donda Academy in West.
