Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns said on Friday he tested positive for COVID-19.
The diagnosis is particularly difficult for Towns, whose mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, died at 59 on April 13 of complications from COVID-19. She had been dealing with the virus for a month.
Cities said ahead of the season that six other family members had also died from the virus.

Minnesota announced earlier that its Friday night game against the Memphis Grizzlies has been postponed due to the Timberwolves’ organization contact tracing.
Gersson Rosas, president of the team’s basketball operations, told a press conference on Friday that the organization had had two positive tests in the past two days and that a player was in protocols for looking for league contacts.
