Prominent Republican John Kasich crossed party lines for Joe Biden on Monday, the opening night of a Democratic national convention featuring the broad coalition against Donald Trump.
“I have been a Republican for a long time, but this attachment takes second place to my responsibility to my country,” he said. “We are taken down the wrong road by a president who opposed each other.”
Other Republicans on the speakers list included former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman and Quibi CEO Meg Whitman. They spoke out in favor of Biden on various issues, including women’s rights and the economy
