Kat Dennings said a bizarre audition with Nicolas Cage was one of the “best memories” of her life.
Dennings, who stars in Marvel’s “WandaVision,” told Variety she was in the final audition for a role in a “very dramatic” film that ended up being nominated for a Tonne of Oscars and was made by an “extremely famous director.”
The scene she was auditioning with involved being physically restrained by the actor in the film, who happened to be Cage. Dennings said all of the dialogue in the scene revolved around his character trying to get away from the character of Cage. But things did not go as planned.
“I’m ready to step into the face of the stage, but I realized pretty quickly that this actor is not going to touch me. He won’t be near me either. He was across the room, which seemed like his choice, ”Dennings said, noting that she was“ quite young ”at the time.
“I was like ‘I’m going to act out this.’ So a scene where I ask to be let go and physically free myself from this man’s grip has become a mime session. But I understand and respect that the actor made this decision. But at the time, it wasn’t great because I was like, “I sound like an absolute jerk. I don’t understand that.” “
Dennings said that while the audition wasn’t what she expected, she still enjoyed the experience of auditioning with Cage, who she says is one of her all-time favorite actors. time.
“I’m really, really grateful for this experience just because I wanted to be in a room with Nicolas Cage,” Dennings said. “But the good thing is he was so respectful and I think that could be where it was coming from like, I’m a young girl so he didn’t want to physically touch me and hurt me.” easy. I appreciate that. I really. “
Dennings currently stars in “WandaVision” as Darcy Lewis, a role she played in two previous MCU films, “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World”. Darcy helps Randall Park FBI agent Jimmy Woo figure out what’s going on in Westview and what’s happening to Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda.
It’s unclear whether Darcy’s role will get bigger in “WandaVision,” which has started to recall previous MCU movies, but her character has proven to be quite useful so far. Meanwhile, Dennings has stated that she will “assume” her character is not in the upcoming “Thor” movie, which is currently filming. She said that she wasn’t asked to do anything about it, but that she would always be up for whatever Marvel wanted her to do.
