Kate Middleton goes up to the plate in the absence of the queen.
For the first time in her post, the Duchess of Cambridge was greeted by the troops at the annual Beating the Retreat musical event. As a general rule, this honor is reserved for Queen Elizabeth IIbut Kate is hailed as she is the only member of the royal family to attend.
The soldiers greeted the Duchess, who wore a Catherine Walker coat, Gianvito Rossi pumps, Cassandra Goad earrings and a gold clover pin from the Irish Guards. She has perfectly accessorized the set with a Mulberry pouch. As for her hair, the mother of three has elegantly pulled her hair into a smooth bun.
The event aimed to introduce the British Army, but also included a tribute to the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Her husband, Prince William, attended a previous event commemorating the invasion of Normandy by the Allies.
This is just one of the many events the Duchess attended this week. Earlier this week, William and Kate joined the rest of the royal family, with the exception of Meghan Markleand Prince Harry, to welcome the first American family. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are just one of the many couples who have entertained the President Donald Trump and his adult children at a state banquet at Buckingham Palace.
And there will be many other appearances in the coming weeks! With the Queen's birthday coming soon, many fun events are planned, including the Trooping of the Colors, which Meghan Markle plans to attend, despite her maternity leave.
So prepare your tea and cookies for a real British party!
