Kate Middleton worked in 2006 at Jigsaw, a clothing brand that made some of the items in Meghan's collection. She was a buyer of accessories for the brand, a job that she would have obtained after personally contacting Jigsaw's founder, Belle Robinson, an acquaintance of Middleton.

The Duchess of Cambridge (at the time, known as Kate Middleton) worked with Robinson to create a job especially for the royal future, as Prince William had his own commitments on which she often could not control, regulate. In a 2008 interview with the Standard eveningRobinson said she was more than satisfied with Kate's work.

"I must say that I was so impressed with her," said Robinson, adding that Kate had done her best to integrate. "She was sitting in the kitchen at lunch time and chatting with everyone from van drivers to girls' accounting." The Duchess would leave her post less than a year later. to have started her work, saying that she needed "a little time for herself".

Today, more than ten years later, Jigsaw has reconnected with the royal family through Meghan. The brand sells several items – a blazer and pants – as part of Meghan's Smart Set collection. And for every item sold, one will be donated to Smart Works, Meghan's sponsorship, which (among other things) provides clothing to disadvantaged women for job interviews.
