Katharine McPhee is enjoying her life as a new mom.
The former “American Idol”, 36, and her husband David Foster, 71, announced in February that they had welcomed their first child together.
“It’s so natural,” the singer / actress told People magazine on Friday. “I had a really good baby; he’s been so good. I’m so in love!”
And when it comes to her post-pregnancy body, the star insisted she wasn’t stressful about it.
“I thought I would have this pressure [to bounce back] but I was just so grateful and happy to have had a healthy baby and felt really good emotionally and physically, ”McPhee explained. fits into any jeans I have in my closet. “

“I don’t even think about them yet!” McPhee continued. “In my everyday life, I would have an event coming up where I had to train, and it’s really nice to take a break and be happy where I am.
McPhee said motherhood has also given her plenty of time to enjoy her family, which is more important than squeezing into any pair of jeans.
“I wake up at 5 in the morning with him and we listen to his father’s piano album [“Eleven Words”] and we have our quiet time, “she said.” And the night before putting him in his room, there are only the three of us in bed. We take a lot of pictures! It is really nice. “
Recently, McPhee made an appearance on “Today with Hoda and Jenna” where she revealed the baby’s name: Rennie David Foster.

The couple first met in 2006 when Katharine McPhee was a candidate for the fifth season of American Idol.

“We picked Rennie because I had actually been in labor for a while, we hadn’t chosen a name,” she recalls. “We had a few names, but my husband was on a text channel with his sisters and one of his sisters suggested an old last name.”
McPhee said the name belonged to Foster’s great-grandfather and great-uncle, so “he has a long history in his family.”
“My husband said, ‘Hi, Ren Foster’, so we said, ‘That’s a good name. It’s a strong name, ”the star said.
Things seem to be going well for the new mom as she says motherhood has been “the sweetest” and “the best” experience.

“I am in heaven,” she added. “It was really amazing.”
She also joked that her husband was going to “kill” her for publicly sharing the baby’s name.
McPhee and Foster, who also has five children from previous relationships, tied the knot in a London church in June 2019. The couple first met in 2006 when McPhee was contesting the fifth season of “American Idol” “and Foster was a mentor on the singing competition series.
Foster offered McPhee in July 2017 a massive emerald diamond ring while the couple were on vacation in Italy.
