“For the record, I have no problem with Katy. I just don’t agree with this particular tweet. I respect his own personal experience and his attitude towards unity. But his approach is not mine and that’s it.
“ I can’t call my family because they voted against me and I have the right to love whoever I do, no unfortunately it’s not family first and this tweet is a bit insensitive to those in a similar situation, ” @kayleighcat tweeted.

While a Twitter user noted that Katy’s heart was in the right place, he admitted that it wasn’t possible for others.
“Your intentions are in the right place, but it doesn’t work for everyone, unfortunately. It’s important to consider this, ” @iwasdivine tweeted.
Other Twitter users defended Katy, and one said the backlash she was receiving was overblown.

And this is the moment we need to remember: that we all love our parents and we all love our children. And I can rest easy knowing that my two young nieces at home will never see each other less than equal, nothing but equal.

He is the kind of person willing to work to make our country a better place. Less than 3 months before polling day. LET’S DO THIS, ” she wrote on Instagram.
