FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV) – The investigation department of KCTV5 received a tape recording of Tyreek Hill and her fiancé discussing the police investigation and what they told the police.
The recording would have taken place at the beginning of March, while the parents were walking in the Dubai International Airport. KCTV5 learned that the registration was an "insurance policy" for Crystal Espinal.
Espinal sent her to at least one friend as a precaution because she did not think she could keep a recording on her phone. Since then, it has been shared and sent by a person who is concerned about the well-being of the couple's child.
The sound lasts 11 minutes and is cut off abruptly. At no point in the recording, Hill admits to having broken his son's arm. In fact, he categorically denies it.
Espinal also claims to have covered the investigator for Hill with investigators.
Both parents blame each other for disturbing behavior.
KCTV5 shared the entire raw audio with Johnson County Attorney Steve Howe, and asked for an answer. He is currently reviewing the audio.
Howe held a press conference on Wednesday, saying he thought he had committed a crime before saying he did not know who to charge.
KCTV5 also solicited comments from both parents and their legal teams.
Sources confirm to KCTV5 that both parents lost custody as a result of a separate investigation conducted by the Child Protection Service through the Department of Child and Family Services. Kansas or DCF.
Hill currently has a "contactless" order with his 3 year old son.
Originally, Espinal had retained custody, but a judge finally removed the boy from his care during an emergency hearing held on April 5.
Another hearing was held on April 17. None of the two parents got custody.
During his press conference, Howe pointed out that the child was currently safe and that his office and the CPS would use other legal means to make sure he stays safe. .
The investigative department of KCTV5 News has learned that the boy is currently living with a family he knows well, but they are not family.
Espinal is allowed to make supervised visits and publishes images on social media of herself and her son.
