KDE in 2021 expected to see Wayland plasma ready for production, further improvements

KDE developer Nate Graham, who has contributed a lot to KDE in recent years and is well known for his weekly KDE development summaries, has released a 2021 roadmap for the year.

Based on his involvement in all things KDE, Nate released a New Year’s roadmap looking at likely accomplishments for the desktop environment this year.

Among the elements of the 2021 roadmap is a ‘production ready’ Wayland Plasma session, properly handling fingerprint support across the KDE stack, complementing the work of the Breeze Evolution icon, creating a Replacement for the Kickoff app launcher and support for redundant text in the Konsole terminal emulator when resizing.

On its roadmap for last year, there were things like the improved discovery of Samba share in the Dolphin file manager, automatic rotation for tablets, better wallpapers, scale factors. X11 per screen and other items mainly processed in the calendar year.
