Keith Thurman presents Spence vs Garcia, wants a winner

Former welterweight defending champion Keith “One Time” Thurman will be one of many interested observers for tonight’s Errol Spence Jr v Danny Garcia fight, and has given his thoughts on the game, as well as – obviously – that he wants the winner in 2021.

“(Garcia’s) the biggest puncher I’ve faced. But if Spence has that ‘Man-Down philosophy’ he’s going to get you out of there, ”Thurman wrote on Instagram. “I think it depends on who gets the bigger punch first and how Spence handles the crash.

“I will be watching the PPV with great interest because I want the winner in 2021 and the opportunity to remind the world why Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman is still the best welterweight!”

Thurman, 32 (29-1, 22 KOs), is out of 2020 and has not fought since his July 2019 loss to Manny Pacquiao. The Floridian faced a string of injuries that also took time between his March 2017 victory over Danny Garcia and his January 2019 comeback victory over Josesito Lopez, which was a bout where he struggled more than anyone else. would not have anticipated. There’s probably a reason, probably, to wonder if injuries may have robbed Thurman of some of his early years.

But until we have proof of that, or proof that he may be healthy enough to regain some of his best days, he remains one of the top contenders at 147 pounds and a name of foreground.

That said, Spence has repeatedly said that he has no interest in fighting Thurman. That could change, of course; the bad blood between them is a good way to sell a fight after all. But first, we have to see what happens tonight between Spence and Garcia.
