Kelis’ husband Mike Mora reveals he’s been diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer

Kelis’ husband Mike Mora was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer.

The 37-year-old father-of-two shared his diagnosis in a series of posts, after battling stomach pain in 2020, just weeks after he and the singer, 42, moved to a farm in outside of Los Angeles.

The photographer appeared on Instagram on Wednesday to acknowledge the outpouring of support he has received since going public with his health news, as he marked a year since his first diagnosis.

Mike said when he first started battling stomach pain he assumed it was due to the heavy farm work he did in the “blazing heat”.

But after a loss of appetite and pain in his back, he decided to see the doctor, where he was told he had seen a doctor “just in time”.

Mike shared his diagnosis in an Instagram post as he marked a year since he was told he had gastric adenocarcinoma, posting a snap of his hospital admission.

“This photo was taken as I was transferred to the Oncology Section at UCLA Santa Monica from the nearby Ronald Reagan Hospital,” he said under a photo of the back of a man wearing a UCLA Transport Critical Care t-shirt and standing at the foot of a hospital bed.

“This gentleman, Latin brotha, saw how weak I was. He looked at me before leaving my room and said, “I’ve seen people come out of the craziest situations, be strong my brother, you get it.” I will never forget his face…. ‘ he added.

Then the Southern California farmer noted, “They said 18 months. It’s been exactly 12 years. Here we go .. Scared as F ¥ #%… The story will continue .. I love you @kelis. ‘

In Wednesday’s post, Mike said his trip was “moving” but “love and words of encouragement” did. [him] stronger.’

Mike ended his post with “the story will continue,” a phrase he uses regularly when documenting his battle with cancer.

The photographer previously explained why he decided to be more open about his life on social media.

“I want to be able to help those who might be going through something like this – a life changing disease full of questions and doubts – maybe hopefully. By showing that it is possible to get out of it, ”he relayed in a previous post.

Kelis and Mike have been married since 2014, and last September they welcomed their second child, a daughter. They also share a five year old son named Shepherd.

The Milkshake hitmaker has 12-year-old son Knight with ex-husband Nas.

In recent weeks, Kelis, who has yet to publicly acknowledge her partner’s state of health, has eagerly teased the release of her new music on Friday.

The singer-turned-chef has been active on Instagram as she sparks fans’ enthusiasm for a project called Midnight Snacks.

On Wednesday, the Milkshake singer posted a purple-toned image to Instagram and asked her 779,000 followers, “Are you hungry again? Ready for #MidnightSnacks? ‘ in reference to the imminent debut of his single.
